Description: For the Magdalena Caldense, in particular, the valorization of biocultural heritage understood as the use of biodiversity, but also local customs, becomes a viable and real alternative to generate adequate socioeconomic and environmental conditions. Only 1.15% of the population of Magdalena Caldense has participated in processes of appropriation of biocultural heritage through projects financed by the SGR. Only 11.52% of the spaces for the social appropriation of biocultural heritage in the department of Caldas are located in the Magdalena Caldense subregion, which has the largest population of all the subregions of the department.

Benefits: increase in employment opportunities, especially for young people and the elderly; socio-ecosystemic uses that deepen new dynamics of environmental resilience, recovery of idiosyncrasies and ancestral knowledge that guarantee cultural and diverse sustainability. In the medium and long term, impacts are recognized in the empowerment of territories on their development, the achievement of long-term goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals SDG: #8, #9, #12 and #15, and a revaluation of environmental assets that allow their adequate sustainability.
