Data center company Elea Digital has inaugurated the first phase of its second data center in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In October last year, they announced the purchase of the seventh Data Center in their ecosystem and the second Data Center in Porto Alegre. The new facility is located in District 4 and is called POA2. At full capacity, the data center will reach 7 MW (initial 1 MW).
The company has also invested over $20 million in the expansion of its data center in Rio de Janeiro. RJ01 has doubled its capacity from 2.5 MW to 5 MW and can accommodate up to 200 additional racks in the 500 square meters of increased space in the data center. According to CEO Alessandro Lombardi, RJ01 is planned to reach 7 MW of capacity at some point.
“2023 was a very important transition year for the future of Elea Digital. We were coming off a series of relevant acquisitions, such as the Globo data center and Telecom Italia. “Therefore, we had to build a suitable team for our 7 data centers. We are the only Brazilian company that operates in five different states. It was a year marked by the internationalization of the company, as large international clients that need cloud and edge services began to acquire space through the company,” Lombardi said.
