In April, Scala Data Centers began operations at its new data center in Rio de Janeiro. This Brazilian data center offers a hyperscale capacity of 7.2 MW and currently hosts one anchor tenant. The SGIGSM01 facility is located on the São João do Meriti campus, offering an IT capacity of 55 MW under construction.
A month later, the company announced the start of operations of SGRUTB05, the second largest vertical data center in Latin America, with an IT capacity of 6 MW. This project, located on the Tamboré Campus in Barueri, São Paulo state, is another example of a single tenant, being the third on that campus, dedicated to a single hyperscale client. This client also has a capacity reservation of 100 MW to be distributed across other data centers in the complex.
In August, the company also started operations at the SSCLCR01 data center, located in Curauma, Valparaíso region, Chile. With an investment of 65 million dollars and an IT capacity of 5 MW, Scala's new data center is already 100% sold to a Hyperscale client and is located in the Curauma Campus, which is projected to reach a critical capacity of around 30 MW in the coming years.
