Description: The project addresses the problem of the generation of organic waste, derived from agricultural activity, which has led to a low valorization of this waste in the region. To promote a circular economy, the project seeks to integrate knowledge from sectors to increase citizen awareness and motivation in the Coffee Belt of Colombia, specifically in the departments of Risaralda and Caldas, to valorize organic waste from market squares. In addition, it aims to determine the socioeconomic and environmental impact of these strategies, considering the lack of participation and knowledge about valorization methods.

Benefits: strengthening of capacities to address problems associated with waste management, using strategies around bioeconomy, circular economy and industry 4.0. Creation of a Master's Degree in Bioeconomy. Provide valuable information to territorial entities and administrative staff of market squares for administrative and investment decision-making in market squares. Development of comprehensive social appropriation strategies of knowledge that can be replicated in other municipalities in the Departments of Caldas and Risaralda. Strengthening surveillance and monitoring programs for events of interest to public health.
